How do I apply for the Savills Graduate Programme?

Graduate Scheme

Graduate Programme 2018

Applications will open from 25 September 2017 to 10am.

Please ensure you read the CV & Cover Letter Guidance before you begin your application.

The Graduate Scheme recruitment process has three stages:

First stage: Application

  • To apply you will need to submit an online application, which involves you uploading your CV and covering letter.
  • Please note once you have submitted your application you will receive an email confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation your application will not be screened so please contactgradrecruitment@savills.com
  • Please note we only accept online applications and do not accept any speculative applications.
  • Candidates short-listed for selected pathways will be invited to undertake a video application as part of the selection process. There is no pre-preparation required.

Second stage: Assessment Day

  • If your online application is successful you will be invited to attend an assessment day in January.
  • We will let all applicants know whether or not they have been successful in reaching the next stage by the end of January.

Third stage: Interview

  • If you were successful at the assessment day you will be invited to attend an interview in late January or early February.
  • We make job offers or offers to join us for work experience by the end of February.
  • All communication for our recruitment is conducted via email, therefore please apply with an account you will have continued use over university holiday.

Can I apply even if I don't have a RTPI/RICS–accredited degree?

Yes, but once you've been offered a graduate traineeship you'll need to undertake a RICS/RTPI-accredited conversion course. In some exceptional cases, we offer funding to help support you through your studies.

Can I apply even if I have already begun my APC at another company?

You can apply and if selected we would review your previous APC related experience and training to be able to develop an understanding of your future training needs.

If I have applied before and been unsuccessful, can I apply again?

Certainly. We review all applications and often encourage students to apply again if they have taken steps to improve their application. If you have been turned down for a summer placement, this has no bearing on your application for a graduate traineeship.

When and where do Savills assessment days and interviews take place?

If your online application is successful you will be invited to an assessment day.

If you are successful at the assessment day you will then be invited for a final round formal interview which will take place in January or February. The interviews often take place in London, but on occasion some of them can take place in one of our regional offices.

What does the Savills assessment day involve?

Please note, the Assessment Centres will be held on the following dates:

The aim of the day is for you to find out about what it would be like to work at Savills and for Savills to find out more about each candidate.

The day will involve candidates undertaking a presentation task, written test, numerical test and a group exercise. There will be no formal interview at this stage of the recruitment process.

In addition, there will be informative presentations and a chance to meet people from the business - from graduates to directors.

What will the interview involve?

The interview will involve a panel of 2 or 3 assessors asking a range of questions regarding your experience, your interest in the industry and so forth. Your questions will be tailored to your performance at the assessment day so no two candidates will have the same interview.

How quickly will I know if I've been successful or not gaining a position?

We will be in touch by email and phone as soon as we are certain that you're right for Savills. We aim to let everyone know if they have been successful or not by the end of January / early Feburary.

If my application isn't successful, will you give me feedback as to why?

Everyone attending an assessment day or interview has the opportunity to request feedback. However, the large volumes of applications we receive mean it isn't possible for us to provide feedback to people who are not invited to an assessment day or interview.

What sport and social opportunities do you offer Graduates?

Savills is a very social company to work for. Along with my social events, there are a range of sporting teams you can join including hockey, football and netball. Also, each year the graduates choose a charity to support. In 2011 the graduates supported 'I Can' by organising a Young Professionals Party at a London Club and a cricket match to raise funds. In addition, graduates were given a day out of their work schedule to visit the 'I Can' school and aid with the building of an additional classroom.

How many departmental rotations do Graduates have?

Graduates gain experience in up to six departments giving maximum flexibility of exposure and choice of department upon qualification, coupled with great networking across the business.

Am I still eligible to apply if I don’t have a work permit?

For Graduate opportunities at Savills, we are only able to consider applicants who are currently legally eligible to work in the UK as we are unable to provide Visa Sponsorship for Graduate positions.

Candidates should have the appropriate legal right to remain and required employment visa* for working they are applying to join.

*The visa must be valid for a minimum of  5 years, with the ability to work 40 hours per week.

Do Savills undertake reference checks?

At any point throughout the recruitment process Savills may undertake reference checks.  Reference may be requested from your school or university to verify your academic achievements, or from any of your previous employment, work experience or volunteering placements.  In addition, we may request evidence of any achievements you detail in your application form.

How should I select my location preference?

We will have Graduate positions available in many of our UK offices and as such we would like to discover which locations would be of interest to you.

Please place the locations in your order of preference.  If your first choice is not available we will consider the second choice as your first.  You do not have to choose a second choice location.  If you do not have a second choice then select 'no second choice' on from the drop down menu.

Only select a second choice of location if you would definitely undertake employment in one of these locations if offered a position.  Please do consider your location preferences carefully as we want applicants who are genuinely passionate about the locations.
